OT: Orphans and Widows (which is which)

In case it helps anyone remember (it helped me), Robert Bringhurst (in 
The Elements of Typographic Style) says:
Orphans have no past, but they do have a future (and need not trouble 
the typographer).
Widows have a past, but no future (and need an extra line for company).
