Do not send fonts to Adobe PDF: select?

I'm confused about whether or not I should select the "Do not send fonts to "Adobe PDF"" check box in the Adobe PDF Document Properties > Adobe PDF Settings dialog box. 
 
I use FrameMaker 7.2p158 on Windows XP.
 
I convert FrameMaker documents containing ENU, DEU, and JPN characters.
 
I use "Save as PDF" via a FrameScript.
 
The Adobe website says do select this option. The Advanced FrameMaker book says do not select it. The popup help is unclear.
