It'll co-exist with another FM install just fine.
However, I don't think you can back-save from 8 to a 6 compatible MIF
format. I think it only supports back-saving to FM 7.

But depending on what version of Acrobat you're using, you may have
some juggling to do, because 8 installs the current (limited)
Distiller. And that cannot be used with a previous version.
