autonumbering in book

In the book window, select all the chapters after the first. Then select
Format > Document > Numbering. In the Numbering Properties dialog, click
the Paragraph tag. Click Continue Numbering from Previous Paragraph in
Book and click Set.

How do I make sure that my figure and table numbers run all the way
through a multiple chapter book, rather than restarting in each section?
