Intermixing FM 7 and 8 documents

I have FM 8 but am working with people who use FM 7. When I open their
documents, my software wants to convert to FM 8. I assume these other
people would be unable to use the converted document, plus we need to
print about 25 documents as a group. It seems that my software won't
work with the older format and leave it in that format. Please tell me
if I've missed something-is my software incompatible with leaving
documents in version 7 format?
