      Sr. Technical Writer  
         Duties: Write and verify the accuracy of online help, online documentation, and printed documentation as assigned. 
      Acquire an overall knowledge of the products you are responsible for documenting, and an understanding of how they relate to and integrate with other  technologies. 
      Desired: Run the software and understand how to use it. 
      Update information across multiple release lines (maintenance). 
      Work closely with remote sites, possibly including overseas. At times this may require meetings outside standard business hours. 
      Track work items using Clarify. 

      All necessary hardware and software will be provided. 
      The Information Management manager or lead writer will define the documentation deliverables and schedule timeframes for the contract writer. These may be re-negotiated as the situation warrants. 
      A departmental orientation, including an overview of the Framemaker template, style guide, the documentation build process, and other common processes, will be provided. 
      Access to the product(s) he or she is assigned to document, product training materials, and the names of the subject matter experts with whom the writer is to work will be provided. 
      A department ¡§buddy¡¨ will be assigned for the contract writer for the duration of the contract assignment.  
         Skills: Equivalent of 3-7 years creating (writing) technical documentation for enterprise software, with a proven track record of delivering quality task-based, and reference documentation, and online help. 
      Possess good project management, time management, and self management skills. Be able to adapt different styles to different types of information and audiences.  Demonstrate the mental agility and flexibility to rapidly and accurately analyze technical problems. 
      Be able to entertain multiple points of view and make reasonable decisions based on available information. 

      Languages, Tools, and Applications 
      Understand how to use Adobe FrameMaker and possess the ability to master new documentation tools quickly. 
      Experience with online help tools, source control systems, defect tracking systems, Eclipse IDE, scripting, and XML tools. 
      Experience with HTML and related HTML editing tools such as Dreamweaver. 
      Have a strong understanding of professional web application concepts and techniques, such as networks, TCP/IP networking protocol, IIOP protocol, application servers, XML, J2EE, and data persistence. 
      Familiarity with the Java programming language (especially J2EE APIs) and Java development tools. 
      Familiarity with Web services, Java, XML, and/or database technology. 
     
         Education: Ideal candidate will have a degree or advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Technical Writing, Communications, or a related discipline or have equivalent skills and work experience.
