Disappearing Paragraph Tags from status bar

Usually, a document's status bar shows the Flow and the Paragraph Tag
in the lower left corner.  More frequently, I'm noticing that the
status bar will stop showing this information and instead shows ParaID
and no other information.  The only way I seem to be able to get the
normal status bar information to appear is to close the document and
reopen it.  This is extremely annoying.

Can anyone tell me what causes this to happen or some better way to
get it to revert to normal behavior?
