No, no, no! I don't believe anyone suggested this! 

I specifically recommended PDF and went on to explain why converting a
vector drawing to a bitmap is a _bad_ idea. 

I'll second what Art said in reply, except that you can crop your PDFs
in Acrobat. No Photoshop needed.
