FM8.2 embedding .swf and flash files and wishes for .u3d

Dear Video group:
I have a sequence of detailed .avi animations exported from the free version
of Sketchup. I want to embed them, or encode variants, into FrameMaker 8.2
so they generate normal .pdf files. However, although FM advertises that it
can, it cannot, and one gets an "Oh-so-UNCLICKABLE" square in the .pdf.
Having bought Adobe flash tool, I can embed the flash file .fl4 or .swf
after the pdf is produced, but this seems to defeat the purpose of this
well advertised asset of FM 8.2.
Since Sketchup produces 3d vector graphics natively I would love to use the
Intel designed .u3d format which would allow the object to be rotated (and
which is also supported by FrameMaker 8.2). But I cannot find a encoding or
translation product. The trial version of RenderPlus crashes with an out of
memory message (me with 4 gigs of Ram). The Professional version of Sketchup
does not even advertise .u3d output.
Any ideas out there?
