can one force a dropdown menu state?

Hi, is there an option in FrameMaker 9's maker.ini file or any other
way to force the "Source Type" drop-down menu in the Cross-Reference
dialog panel to default to "Elements Sorted by ID"? I had a look at
maker.ini as well as the some of the fminit/config/*.cfg files but I
can't see anything that could be tweaked.

Our IDs are supplied manually and make sense to the author, and lots
of the labels are repetitive and don't give a good indication. We're
looking for ways to make the insertion of Xrefs as quick as possible.
