render same variable in two numbering formats

Hi Fred,

My first thought was to use $subsectionnum in just the way you describe ($volnum is in use), but I was hoping for something less kludge-like. Maybe there isn't a more elegant solution.

Thanks,
Leigh

Are you already using $volnum for something? If not, use it for the u.c. Roman number in the section heading and let $chapnum continue to be used for the Arabic numbers everywhere else. Just make sure that the numbering properties are set identically for both variables.
