Java error Message when importing xml to frameMaker 8

The first thing I would check:
> Error: Could not find Java 2 Runtime Environment
> Java 6 Update 3 is the version being used.

So do you have the Java 2 Runtime Environment installed on the
problematic machine? Do you have it installed on the working machine?
