Hi Theresa

* Click in a Heading1 paragraph and open the paragraph designer.
* On the Pagination tab, set the paragraph format to Across All Columns.
* Click Update All.

Subject: Heading1 which spans 2 columns

xp
  Frame 8

  I have a book with some pages with 2 columns. I would like to have
  Heading1 span both columns (and force the text in column2 out of the way).

  Do I do this by using an anchored frame? What settings do I use?

  Many thanks,
  Theresa
