Translating English to Portuguese

Mif2Go 33U43 (with FrameMaker 8.n)

I've addressed this to three e-mail lists, so my apologies to all who receive it more than once.

Will you please help identify the considerations of translating a manual and then producing on-station help from the translated files?

In on-station help for FrameMaker 9.0p255, I found verbiage to the effect that FrameMaker 8.0 has "Dictionary and hyphenation support . . ." for Portuguese.

Given:
  1.  Source files are to be in English in FrameMaker 9.0p255.
  2.  Source files are to be translated from English to Portuguese.
  3.  From translated source files, we will need to produce either
    a.  HTML help (.htm) without context sensitivity or
    b.  Compiled HTML help (.chm) with context sensitivity

The source files are in FrameMaker 7.n, and we are confident that we can open and save the source files through 8.n and into 9.n.
