I have found Acrobat's OCR to be cumbersome and not particularly 
accurate.  Older versions of MS Word (up to 2007) included Document 
Imaging in the Office > Tools menu; apparently OneNote that comes with 
current Office installations does OCR automatically on any image 
containing text:
