Repetitious Loading of Image Files

Hi Nancy,

I would change the name of the original English image folder, and only link up the French images at first. Skip the English ones. Then reopen the file and link it to the original English folder after having changed its name.

Subject: Repetitious Loading of Image Files

Hi, all.

I am using Frame 10 in a Windows 7 environment.

I have retaken screen shots from our UI in French, giving them the identical filenames as the English version and storing them in a separate directory. Note that not every image in the original .fm file needs to be replaced by a French version image.

I've masked the name of the English art directory and pointed FrameMaker to the French directory.

So, let's say the English art directory contains 100 images. The French art directory contains 50 images, which are named identically to their english counterparts.

When I open the Frame file and point Frame to the French directory, Frame stops when it doesn't find one of the missing files. When I select "skip this file," Frame doesn't continue loading the files that *are* in the French directory. Instead, it goes back to the original directory -- or goes somewhere else -- I haven't tracked it blow by blow.

How can I get it to stay in the French directory?

And FrameMaker looks repetitively for the same fies that I've already told it to skip, sometimes two or three times before it finally finishes identifying all the files that it can load.

How do I get this process to work smoothly?

I'm thinking of asking our translation house to load the files for me, in case they have some easier way to do it. but I'd rather do it myself.
