Framemaker and Tints

Adobe Framemaker 10, Windows 7

I just had to explain to a customer, that our company is doing an 800-page catalog for, that I can't get Frame to accommodate tints in a cmyk output. RGB yes. I have to get them to select a lighter shade from the pantone color chart to make this work.
I don't remember seeing anything about tints being addressed in Framemaker 11 discussions. If I missed it my apologies.
