Converting Framemaker to Sharepoint

Cynthia,

I must agree with David and Matt. I use FrameMaker to create our process
and user manuals for our company. We distribute the media (PDF files) to
our users through SharePoint sites. Basically, SharePoint is turnkey
operation for making restrictive websites. It allows some form of
content version control, and sharing of documents through reference. It
also has templates for various types of sites, from collaboration to
document libraries. It supports calendars, forms, and other little things.

It's a shovel trying to masquerade as an elegant dinner setting.

What it isn't is a content development tool. You can't write, edit or do
anything other than store and present created documents from other
tools, like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, FrameMaker, InDesign or even Notepad.

Whomever is selling you this, is either not very conversant with what
the application (SharePoint), or is very dishonest.

You get to name the beast. I would advise you to challenge this person
to demonstrate how you will be creating content on SharePoint. And then
you may need a large stick to beat them with.
