Structured FrameMaker 11 Error Console

I have attached a screen capture of the top one of the XML files that I import. When you mention the content model specified at the top of the file are you referring to the DocType? There is a large set of Doctypes that I need to add to the FrameMaker 11 structured applications file. I tried adding one of these and then importing the xml file that corresponds to it. I am still getting the error messages in the console and if I format, save, and then reopen the FrameMaker 11 file that I imported, I am losing the formatting, so the problem still exists.

If you open the XML file in a text editor, what's the content model specified at the top of the XML file? Alternately, you can open the XML in Fm8 and use the Set Structured Application File command to see what structapp needs to be added to the Fm11 structapps file.

That application needs to be set up in Fm11, and you need to ensure that it is valid. There may be minor tweaks to the structapp needed for use in Fm11.

The process works when I run it using FrameMaker 8 in a Win 7 environment. When I am attempt to run it using FrameMaker 11 in a Win 7 environment, I encounter these issues. I am also noticing that after flowing an xml file into FrameMaker and format and save it, if I close and then reopen the file in FrameMaker 11, I receive error messages, one indicating that validation of the xml file failed (See attached image named FrameMaker_error.PNG, and another indicating that it can't locate structured application DITA 1.2 (see image named FrameMaker_Colsole_error.PNG). I replaced the structured application file that came with the FrameMaker 11 with the structured application file that I am currently using with FrameMaker 8. I'm guessing that this is the issue.

Hi Brenda,

Either your XML doesn't conform to your internally automated process, or you don't have a working Structured Application for your XML model.

As Rick said, the line numbers referring to the XML file will give an indication of what's gone awry. At that point, you need to either modify the XML to fit the StructApp, or modify the StructApp to fit the XML.

I am performing testing in a Windows 7 environment with Structured FrameMaker 11.

I am using an internally automated process that imports an xml feed into a FrameMaker template and produces a formatted FrameMaker document. The FrameMaker 11 error console window that is displaying contains a long list of errors. This is my first time working with FrameMaker 11 and this error console window. I have attached a screen capture of the error console with the line numbering feature activated in the FrameMaker document.

I'm noticing that the error console window indicates the line number where an error is occurring. I'm assuming that these line numbers correspond with the line numbers that can be made visible in the FrameMaker document by choosing the line numbering feature from the FrameMaker menu bar. Is this correct?
