We do this all the time.  On our printer, we use the duplex top-bottom feature.  It has different names on different printers, but you should get the idea.  We do our own in-house printing.

I will contact him. It is easy enough for me to rotate the 
even-numbered pages in the PDF (thanks, Robert!) , which will nicely 
solve that problem if he doesn't want to do it himself. Rotating in 
the PDF will prevent me from having to stand on my head when editing 
the document in Framemaker if I were to rotate the master page.
