[Framers] Replace URLs

John,

An alternative to scripting for changing marker text is Cudspan's MarkerWorker. On Chris Despopoulos's website, this plugin is listed under FM 9, but I still use it in FM 12 and have not seen any problems. You simply unload the marker text into a document, do a search and replace, then reload it back into the markers. I generally use it on a file, but it runs on a book, too. See http://cudspan.net/plugins/.

Regards,
Penelope

Every one of the URLs contains the absolute URL in a marker.

I figured I was going to hear from you. Tell me what you have in mind. :-)

Hi John,

You can use FrameMaker's built-in Find/Change feature to change the URLs in the text. For URLs in markers, you will need to use scripting. Keep in mind that FrameMaker versions 10 and higher include ExtendScript built in. If you are interested in pursuing a scripting solution, please let me know. Thank you very much.

Subject: [Framers] Replace URLs

Hi, guys. My company is reorganizing its SharePoint infrastructure with the new year by moving a whole bunch of SP project folders. My documentation has thousands of URL to files and folders on multiple SP sites that are going to be consolidated to one SP site, hence, breaking every one of my links.

This means I need to change the root part of thousands of URLs from one address to another. This has to be applicable against a whole book and not file by file...I have over 1,000 FM 11 files

What are my options?

Thanks

John Posada
