[Framers] SOLVED RE: Import workspace?

Thanks for the great suggestion to create a workspace and see what happens, Rick. I didn't even have to look at the XML.

In FrameMaker 2017, the custom workspace files have the extension .fws (not .cfws).

Hi Pat,

It could be that the file format has changed a bit between versions. Try creating a custom workspace in FrameMaker 2017 and then examine it with a text editor. You may be able to see if something has changed in the content of the XML file.

I found some info online and you have it right (for the most part). But my custom workspaces still don't show up. I've tried restarting FrameMaker. Now I'll try restarting Windows.

The short answer is that I don't know for sure, BUT: workspace files are XML files, so you should be able to get them from your current installation and copy them to the new installation. They are located at

C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\<VersionNumber>\WorkSpa
ces

where <UserName> is your Windows login name and <VersionNumber> is the FrameMaker version number. The workspace files have .cfws extension on them, but they are simply XML files.
