[Framers] Windows 10 backwards compatibility?

Ok Stefan,
These aren't trivial issues obviously and don't make me feel secure in my decision at all.
I have had 3 responses saying that running Windows 10 w/ older versions of Framemaker had not been an issue. Does anyone else on this list have experience either way?
Thank you.
Tammy

There are many people running older versions of FrameMaker on Windows 10.
Adobe introduced "official" support for Windows 10 in FrameMaker 2015, Update 1.
However, this only means, that Adobe has certified FM 2015, Update 1, for Windows 10. Older versions are not certified for Windows 10, and therefore there is no official support for running older versions on Windows 10.

Please note, that there are certain changes in Windows 10, that have or can have an impact on FrameMaker depending on the use case. Areas where Windows has an impact on FrameMaker can be e.g. installation, rights management related issues, fonts, font rendering, and printing.

Hi All,

Thank you for the responses. Yes, from my extensive googling and pounding through the forums, it does seem that FM 10 and 12 both run just fine on Windows 10. And based on the statement that I pulled from HowToGeek, that would make sense; however, as only FM2015 is explicitly called out as being compatible with Win 10, I am understandingly a bit hesitant, but I probably won't have a choice.

Carrier pigeon anyone?

Thanks!

FM 10 and 12 run on my Windows 10 system with no issues. Not sure about Acrobat as I avoid it when I can other than to convert files to PDF or to read them. That works fine, but I don't know about other functions in there.

All,

I might be forced to upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 Ultimate. (The reasons are not important.) I have FM 10, FM 12 and Adobe Acrobat Pro XI currently installed. Here is a comment that I found on HowToGeek's website:

****************************************************************************

Microsoft's Windows 10 seems like a big change. The version number alone is a big leap from Windows 7, and most of the default apps are new-style "universal apps," not traditional desktop apps.

But, if you depend on traditional Windows desktop applications, you shouldn't worry. Don't let Windows 10's new look fool you - if an application ran on Windows 7, it should also run on Windows 10.

****************************************************************************

But, is this true? Will FM 10 and 12 and Adobe Acrobat XI run on Windows 10?
(64-bit system). Have any of you had experience (good/bad/indifferent) running these programs on Windows 10?

Thanks!
