Hi Doug,

I work with Text insets and conditions and I have run into this before. I
won't' bore you w/ all the ins and outs, but after I do this once, I don't
have this issue again:

1.) Turn on All the conditions in the text inset file and make sure that the
where appropriate, the pilcrows are also conditionalized. Always leave all
the conditions turned on for the inset.
2.) Open all the books that use the inset.
3.) Set the conditions appropriately in each book and update each book.
4.) Close all files in each book and save the book.

Now, when the text inset is pulled into a book file (the container file), it
inherits the conditional text settings of the container file, so even if you
have all conditions showing in the text inset by itself, when it is viewed
in a container file, only the text that matches the conditions in the
container file >>SHOULD<< be displayed.

There are more tricks and tips that I can provide about insets in a separate
presentation that I have done if you are interested.

Subject: [Framers] Unresolved Xref

I have a text inset FM file that is used in many different books, so it
contains a good bit of conditional text. It also contains cross references
to other chapters in one of these books. I have these Xrefs marked as
conditional as well, and they are always hidden unless I want to view
conditions for that particular book.

However, when I change the condition view and click Update Book for any of
the other books, the Update process generates Unresolved Xref errors in the
Log file. Clicking the links in the log file opens the text inset, but
using a Find Unresolved Xrefs results in nothing returned. If I reset the
condition view to the referred book, the unresolved xref displays in the
inset.

If you can follow all of that, I have to ask: why are the
conditionally-marked Xrefs processed by the Update Book procedure? They are
marked as Hidden, after all.

Thanks!

Doug
