The subscription model does require an internet connection for activation, but you should be able to disconnect and reconnect every few months for it phone home & validate your account.

Hi,

I had a look at the Adobe site this morning investigating upgrading my
legacy licensed version (v.5.5.6). However, all I saw was a subscription
option. Is a licensed version is available? If so, I would appreciate a
pointer. If subscription is the only option, does usage require the cloud
or can I install locally?
