FrameMaker Forum
Subject: FrameMaker 9 Crashing

Hi all,

In the last week, I started experiencing intermittent
crashes of FrameMaker 9. I have not noticed any particular pattern of actions
that seems to cause the crash. I will have FrameMaker open for some period of
time and then it crashes. The last crashed happened as I was fixing a broken
cross ref that linked to a heading in another file. FM crashed as I was fixing
the link in the cross ref dialog box. Not sure if that's related. Also, the
crash reports have different internal error codes so it seems doubtful that its
the exact same issue but its not like I can decipher what those are trying to
say anyway so who knows :). Please note that I ran FrameMaker 9 without a
problem on Windows XP SP3. I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and have been
successfully using FM9 for about a month and a half since then.

I can of
course forward the crash reports if someone thinks that would be helpful for
diagnosing the problem. I am tempted to just uninstall FrameMaker completely and
then delete the left over data in the user directories. Though since I have TCS
2.0 maybe I should delete the whole thing and reinstall that but what a pain.
That takes forever to install!!

Here are my specs:
Technical
Communication 2.0
FrameMaker 9.0p255
Windows 7 Enterprise, 64-bit
4 GB
of RAM
Intel Core 2 Duo

Any help would be
appreciated.

Thanks,
Joseph Lorenzini
