Variables in the footers of the master pages for each file in a book
(e.g. document name, publication date). Each file in the book uses the
same set of variables (even if they are not used in that file). When
updating a book, I update the appropriate variables in the front page
file, and then import variables from that file to all the other files
in the book. Only takes a minute or two.<br>

Insert the variable in the appropriate place in the footer of the appropriate master pages (the default Left and Right, plus any custom master pages used in the body of the doc).
