There is absolutely <i>not </i>one standard Helvetica family. Apple’s TrueType Helvetica is different than Adobe’s Type 1 Helvetica, although the character widths are comparable. There are updated versions of Helvetica from various other sources. There are numerous versions of Helvetica Neue. You cannot assume that these designs are all the same. It is amazing what trouble you can get into with this. If you are talking about all caps, the differences in most letterforms are pretty subtle (altough a few, like the capital R, are markedly different).
