I first try F5, which rarely works. Oftentimes, closing down the Explorer window and reopening it will force a refresh, and if not that, then a reboot is worth a try. I have occasionally gone to a command prompt window to make sure I really put the file where I think I did. In my experience, the command prompt always displays files correctly, confirming that this is an Explorer bug.
