font-style: normal;"><span style="font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span>I think the easiest way for you to debug the issue is to make a grid outlining the numbering formats</span><span>: use a different column for each numbering building block position (e.g. 1st level heading, figure, table, 2nd level heading, and so forth); or maybe have two grids - one for the desired format and one for the format as actually defined in the file/template. In any planning layout like this, you should include ALL the formats that use numbering, e.g. chapter title, sections, headings, tables, figures, enumerated lists, even bullets, etc. so you can verify that there are no conflicts.<br><br></span><span><span>I do not have Frame 10, but if
you can downsave a copy of a file (use SAVE AS and choose FM 7) I'd be
happy to take a look at it. </span>You can create a test file based on these formats, and just have some very short paragraphs of the various formats to illustrate the issues. The major section does reset them to start at one again.<br><br>For this to work, the figures, tables and headings will have to be in the same numbered series (e.g. F: or H:) but you also need to use placeholders - the empty building block < > (which does not alter, nor show
the value) - for counters that should not be affected.<br><br>One suggestion is to create a grid of your numbering needs, so you can more easily see where you need to use the various types of numbering building block - display only (e.g. <n>), incrementing (e.g. <n+>) or ignoring (< > and note the space between the less-than and greater-than symbols)<br><br>Here is how I would setup your formats, assuming only three levels of headings (as per your example).?
