What's weird is I can do these actions without crashing in another document (ditamap). In this troublesome document, even trying to save a small ditamap (a submap that is included in the larger doc) produces the crash. All docs authored in FM. It's almost as if there is something about the directory that is causing FM to crash. I can save files, so it's not a file save restriction.

It would be nice if FM gave some meaningful error message.

Craig

Date: Thu, 24 Jan 2013 09:21:17 -0800
From: sp10@leximation.com
To: craigede@hotmail.com
CC: framers@lists.frameusers.com
Subject: Re: FM 11 crashing consistently on Save Ditamap As > PDF

It sounds like there's something in
your topics (or map) that FM doesn't like. I'd start by pruning
the set of files down to locate the problem.

Have these files been authored in FM or another XML editor? It's
possible that you're using DITA elements or features in a way that
FM doesn't support.

Are you applying a ditaval file? Try the build without the
filtering to see if that works.

You might want to post your question to the framemaker-dita Yahoo
group as that'll get to an audience who may have more experience
with DITA and FM.
