Thanks ever so much for the replies.

Someone suggested:

> Try version 4.1 of the Intellimouse driver.

While looking for it among Microsoft's downloads, I found an IntelliPoint
5.5 driver. I thought I had the latest (5.1) because that's what came on the
CD with a brand new Microsoft Optical Wheel Mouse I just bought yesterday.
Anyway, I tried the 5.5 driver and it didn't work either.

The IntelliPoint 4.1 driver did the trick. The link to it on microsoft.com
is:

I decided to not even try Freewheel, because that link is to an ancient
(1999) version that was designed for 16-bit apps on Windows 98. Also because
someone else suggested:

> Go to freewheel.com and download the driver.

That turned out to be a bicycle store in Ohio. :)

I may have missed other suggestions, cuz I'm on Digest. Thanks again to
everyone!
