A biotech firm in San Jose is looking for someone to coach other team 
members and coordinate documentation writing and translation.

Reporting to the Manager of Technical Publications, as a hands-on 
writing supervisor you will oversee the work of several technical 
writers and contractors. You will also coach other writers and help 
track milestones, monitor projects for FDA regulatory compliance, 
write documentation as needed.

Note: This is not a Management position as much as a tech writing / 
project coordinator / peer coach position.  You will assist the 
documentation manager in tracking project status and 
mentoring/coaching team members in their writing and authoring tools 
(mainly FrameMaker).

Requirements:

o.  8+ years technical writing experience (Required)

o.  2 or more years supervising technical writers, or at least 4 
years as project leader or as mentor for other writers (Required)

o. Expert proficiency with Adobe FrameMaker and Acrobat (Required)

o. Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and PhotoShop or other 
graphics software (Required)

o. Experience developing online help (Required)

o. BA/BS degree in a life or physical science, English, Technical 
Communications, or a related field (Required)

o. Experience with single-sourcing content using FrameMaker, XML, or 
other technologies is a plus

o. Prior experience coordinating documentation translation a plus

o. Prior experience documenting lab instrumentation and applications, 
medical devices, or informatics software is preferred. Work in a 
medical or scientific lab is a plus

o. Experience working in an FDA-regulated industry a plus

o. Understanding of flow cytometers or other integrated biomedical 
instrumentation and software systems a major plus
