Senior Technical Writer (telecommunications software)
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Senior Technical Writer who understands the roles, requirements, and
tools necessary to research, plan, update existing documentation, and
write new documentation for telecommunications network planning
software for end users, system administrators & integrators.

Specific documents include User Manuals, Administrator Manuals,
Installation Guides, Release Notes and online Help.

The position is located in central New Jersey.

Responsibilities & Functions:
*  Authoring & maintenance of single-sourced manuals & online help
   for telecommunications network planning software
*  Restructure existing documents, improve consistency, identify
   missing content, and spearhead efforts to create new material
*  Ability to work independently with an international, globally
   distributed development organization to coordinate product
   documentation
*  Read/review specifications and install/configure product to
   understand the technology and specify documentation requirements
*  Interact with development engineers, quality assurance, release
   engineers, support team, product managers, other technical writers
   to analyze and prioritize documentation
*  Other responsibilities include: attending product team meetings,
   creating doc plans, scoping and tracking progress, and ensuring
   completion of technical reviews
*  Understand audience needs and document complex software products on
   schedule

Knowledge & Skills

Required:
*  3-5 years professional experience in a related field
*  English native speaker
*  Experience with Adobe FrameMaker 6.0
*  Experience with Quadralay WebWorks (e)Publisher
*  Problem solving, project management and scheduling skills

Preferred:
*  Telecommunications domain knowledge
*  Experience using bug tracking systems
*  Basic knowledge of software development processes
*  Experience using revision control systems (preferably CVS)
*  College degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science,
   engineering, or English
