managing condition tags

The FindChangeSpecialBatch is a script (requires FrameScript engine to run), not the same as the plugin. The plugin provides a dialog box; the script allows you to do all the stuff the plugin does, but it lets you do ALL of the stuff the dialog box does by running the script just one time. Instead of picking *one* thing to do, you just populate the table with all the stuff you want to do and run it once.

Indeed, Rick and Rene,

I pulled it out of the archives.

I've got the FindChangeSpecial plug-in, which helps to some extent: I can "remap" condition tags. In my perfect world, it would be nice I would have an option in the Change Format drop-down list which says: "Make text unconditional and delete condition tag." ;-) Maybe a feature request for FindChangeSpecial 2.1?

I did purchase FindChangeFormatsBatch from you back then, and I haveused it extensively in managing the evolution of our 36 condition tagsacross our library of several thousand pages. I like the way the script uses a user-configurable table in an FM file. I have set up several table files for various clean-up situations, and it's a real time-saver to know I can set it up once and use the various flavors I set up repeatedly, like pulling the appropriate settings just by opening the appropriate script settings file. And, I *really* love the fact that I can use the same script for similarly managing variables and tons of other formats. I set up file management books so that I can run the script once on an entire suite and remap conditions, variables, paragraph formats, character formats, etc., in one fell swoop. Definitely worth the investment. ;-)

The only thing I have to be very careful about is that for any condition tags that I tell the script to delete, the script automatically makes unconditional any text currently tagged with the condition that is marked as delete. Not sure how it handles the situation of overlapping tags...

So, I have to search through the book to find out whether it's in use and how before I can just delete it. In Rene's perfect world (which although it doesn't exist, would be a lovely —albeit delusional— place to abide) I think I would have an extra column in the table to allow choice of whether to make any tagged text unconditional or to delete the tagged text.

Somehow I missed this thread. I can write a FrameScript script to do 
whatever you want to conditions. However, I think FindChangeFormatsBatch 
should delete the condition after it maps it. If you just want a 
straightforward "DeleteUnusedConditions" let me know and I will give you a
