Wim -

the order of the element and format change lists in the EDD is not a factor.  What is important is the order of format rules within a given element's definition.

As Lynne stated, you have to be sure that any rule that applies a format change (i.e., applies a character format to override the default para font) occurs after a rule that applies a paragraph format.

Also, be careful with nested rules - it may be that a change is not being applied when you think due to it being nested inside another rule that is not utilized.  Or possibly it is being replaced by a later rule that reset the paragraph tag.

Hi Lynne,

This makes sense inside a element definition, would you say it also works
that way between elements? Currently I have my elements in alphabetical
order in the EDD, to make it easier to find the elements that need editing.
The format change lists themselves are at the end of the EDD however. In
other appliations I worked with grouped elements (like in the DITA app) -
but I never encountered this problem before - or may be just didn't notice
it.

I'll rearrange my EDD and see if it makes any difference.

Thanks,
