Frame on the Mac

Hello, Rick,

we're running Framemaker 8 and 9 on our
Intel-Macs with Parallels 5 in a Virtual Machine
with Windows XP. I also tried Window 7 Ultimate
64 bit, but had problems with the creation of
PDFs with Acrobat 9 (Pro Extended, all patches
applied).

Parallels Coherence-mode is great, in it you
don't see any Windows desktop anymore, the open
Windows programs are fleeting like Mac-programs
on the desktop and you can place them freely
anywhere on the desktop (or your second monitor).

First I tried to run the Virtual Machines with
the Open Source program VirtualBox but was not
able to activate my second monitor in it. And in
Frame it's better to have one for all the menus
or pods...

So now it's nearly feeling like Framemaker on the
mac (apart from the keyboard shortcuts in
Windows. With some of them you may break your
fingers).

In the last weeks I had massive problems to
create PDFs with bookmarks out of Frame 8 or 9
with Acrobat 9 Pro Extended. Acrobat crashed with
some files, even though the same chapter/file in
another language made no problem (so I don't
think it has anything to to with the graphics).
Creating PDFs without bookmarks were working.

But printing on Windows in a postcript file and
than distilling it on the Mac with Acrobat 9 Pro
into a PDF works fine.
Sounds a little strange to me, but it's a
workaround thats keep me on the run without
spending time (that I don't have) in
troubleshooting...
