"a lot of greater interface enhancements"

Uh oh. Hold on to your keesters. Any time I see this, I cringe. The term "enhancements" in the modern era frequently leads to things being more clickey and less keyboard-accessible. The less I have to touch the mouse in FM (or any app really), the happier I am.

Have they added the ability to control the color attributes of the active document window versus other opened documents? That's one of the things that drives me bonkers about the FM9 interface. While I can (sort of) tweak the contrast of the interface scheme, I cannot make the active document window attributes (border, title bar) a radically different color. Why does this make a difference? When I'm working on index reconciliation, I have the index file open on my main monitor, and then all other documents (that have the markers in them) open, but in very small windows, on a secondary monitor. This way I can follow links back from the index to different files without having to ever deal with overlapping or hidden windows. However, if I need to then enlarge/maximize a certain document's window to make a change in addition to the index marker, it can take me a while to find which of the 10-20 windows is the active window. They all look the same.

Subject: FrameMaker 10 Officially Demonstrated At tekom Conference

Hi all,

At the tekom conference this past week RJ Jacquez of Adobe was providing some sneak peeks at the officially titled "FrameMaker 10".

While I can't say much about specifics that were on display there are updates to DITA, a lot of greater interface enhancements, and even a menu item titled S1000D in the application.

More to follow as we begin to get official approval on what can be said by the beta testers.

For more information on this, please keep an eye on RJ's Twitter account (@rjacquez) and Blog (www.rjacquez.com) for more information.

Bernard
