Retrospectively standardising the styles across my book

Hi Andy, I'm writing just to say thanks for bringing up this discussion. Like you, I taught myself FM and I would also like to "clean" up my styles and have a basic template. Thanks Joy and Roger for your input. This really helps.

Subject: Re: Retrospectively standardising the styles across my book

I asked about standardising styles across multiple chapters. I've been looking at doing some tidying up on this with the intention of removing all the overrides so I can start copying my styles across all my chapters. I've hit two issues:

1. I can see that overrides are indicated in the bottom left corner of the screen. Is there any way of finding out what the specific override is?

2. Is it possible to get a master list of styles (I suppose I should say formats) across the whole book or which ones are applied to which chapter? I can see the catalogue but that isn't very helpful across multiple chapters when you want to know what is missing from which chapters.

I'm now beginning to wonder if the removal of overrides is a bit of a holy grail that becomes impossible without creating a million custom styles. I've discovered that as soon as I apply a revision indicator it counts as an override so I can't take revision indicators out. I'm also wondering if I shouldn't worry about overrides at all and just import the styles into all the chapters (assuming I can identify them all) and accept the overrides when I do.

Cheers

Andy
