Tool to convert jpeg files to text

Hello Listers,
 
Is there a free tool available that can convert .jpg files to text? I have been provided a manual in jpg format for reference. I realize that I can use some of the contents from same instead of re-writing from scratch. How can I avoid typing the contents?
