OT: Corrupt .docx file

I believe that this is the behavior that hides behind the Microsoft terminology "compatibility mode". A .docx file saved in "compatibility mode" can be opened by a pre-2007 version of Word because it uses the old binary .doc file format rather than being zipped XML.
