Modifying FM's default R/L master pages

Hello -

I have some meta-info in the header that I want people to be aware of when they're working but it shouldn't appear in the print and PDF outputs. Does anyone know of a way to do this (other than conditional text). Our templates have a lot of complicated conditionalizing and I'd prefer not to add another condition.
