Using a character format for only some pages in an index

Could someone remind me how to do this, or even whether it's possible in Frame? I've looked in the manual, but can't find the information.

What I need to do is get Frame to apply a boldface font to some page numbers, but not all, for an index entry. To illustrate...

Thing  2, 7, 23, *bold*40-55*default*, 77, 89

U

Uber thing 12, 24... (etc.)

I'm sure I've done this is the past, but maybe I'm just imagining it.
