adjusting an underline (underscore)

The only simple option in FM is to change from a regular underline to a numeric underline - this will change the spacing (slightly) but also change the line weight.  Neither underlining style is adjustable, so you will have to test to see if you like the result.

As others have said, there are a few more complex work-arounds you can use, but these definitely increase the long-term maintenance effort for the document(s).

Can an underline be adjusted to increase the space between the underline and the text directly above the underline ?

Next obvious question: If the answer is yes, then how to do it?
