Way to apply style to * paragraphs

Hmm, please help me understand more about this problem. How will I lose
formatting? 

I think the * styles are the correct ones, just somehow have the * on them.

The potential problem is that you'll lose a lot of formatting that's
necessary but applied incorrectly.
