Hi Regnar!
No, for FM-7 there is no way to encrease this number. It is hardcoded somewhere.

Newer FM version can have a nearly unlimited (I guess it is somewhere around 250) 
number of tabs. Only those which fit to the width of the window are actually tabs, 
all are listed in drop down to the right:
