I'm running FM 12. Years ago, I had the same problem, which was created when IT installed FM and allowed FM to install its verson of Adobe's pdf generator. This caused FM to ignore the fact that I already had a full version of Acrobat. The solution was to uninstall FM and reinstall and not allow it to install what became known as a "headless" printer.

After that, I always used Save as PDF, and when I selected Adobe PDF as the printer, it printed the document using my already installed Acrobat app.

Uninstalling and reinstalling might have been a more severe solution than needed, but it worked and the IT guys were happy that they never had to monkey with FM again, which was fine by me.

Hi Framers,

I am suddenly stuck with a new problem. When trying to print an fm file to ps and then distilling it I either get the message "Cannot open this file.
The file is being used by another process."
Even if I close Framemaker I still get this message.
Also, if I try to open the ps file in Distiller, I get the message that I don't have the permission to open the file. And when trying to change the ownership of the file, I just get another similar message and the file disappears.
Save as pdf gives the same kind of error messages.
And Adobe PDF is my default printer.
What could be wrong?

I'm on a deadline, so any help soon would be appreciated.
Earlier today I had no problem pdf-ing from Affinity Publisher.
