Applying Paragraph Tags with F9 Not Working in Frame 10

Linda,

I'm on Frame 9 (not 10) but this works for me:

Select File > Preferences > Interface > Auto-Collapse Iconic Panels to apply paragraph tags.

But, with that selected, you cannot set tabs in the Paragraph Designer. So if I'm refining a template and need to change tab positions, I temporarily clear Auto-Collapse Iconic Panels. It's a mystery what this setting has to do with either applying paragraph tags or setting tabs, but that's the way it is.

Hope this helps,
Beverly

Having just upgraded to FrameMaker 10 from Frame 8 -- I now find that I can
no longer consistently apply tagging using the F8 (Character catalog) and
F9 (Paragraph Catalog). Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Is there a workaround of some sort to get these function keys to reliably
work?

As someone previously mentioned, Acrobat X is very good at doing OCR on
"non-text" PDFs (and scanning to PDF is very easy to do these days). Not
sure how well it works with JPGs converted to PDFs and then run through this
OCR process. It does great with "normal" scanned documents. I'd be
interested in hearing your results if you go this route.

The real advantage to this, of course, is that it makes unsearchable
documents searchable.

BTW: The JPGs have been produced from what source?

Posted this originally on Adobe forum, but vaguely remember other posts
dealing with this issue. Unfortunately I can't find any of the posts.

Recently upgraded to Win 7 Professional 64 bit
Using Frame 8.0p266 (Michael M?ller-Hillebrand said update to p277 but
this is what Adobe gave me as a download)

Have installed Windows XP mode, but it is not clear to me what I do now.
I have edited the properties of the desktop shortcut for Framemaker to
run program in XP SP3 as administrator. Do I need to uninstall Frame
from the Windows 7 machine and reinstall it in the virtual pc machine?

What I'm trying to do is to save a file as PDF off the Frame menu which
is what generates the SPLWOW64.EXE error. I have noticed a couple of
quirks in the screen display of Frame since I've been on the Windows 7
box, but I'm mostly composing, so I haven't seen many errors.

It was recommended to me to print to Postscript, but I don't seem to be
able to get that working at all.

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed,
Theresa

Yes. Upgrade from Frame 10 to Frame 8. ;-)

What determines the format of the cross reference in the related link, as
generated when saving a DITAmap to Composite FM document?

In my EDD I have defined the format of the fm-linktext to be in all contexts

'Use cross-reference format: Paranum_and_Paratext_on_Page'

But the document still uses 'DITA Default Format'.
