Long change bars are created when a table is in between 2

Hi Ed,
I checked with FM 8 and FM 12:
If the character format is applied only to a single character in each
paragraph, the change bars combine to a long line, "including" also the
tables.
I do not see any kind of workaround in your suggestion, the bug here is
exactly what Simon was telling us.
I haven't got FM 9 here right now, so I cannot say if the behaviour is
different.
