Well .. before *you* recommend it, *you* should actually try it. :-)
Note that AEM is really a Web Content Management system.
Technologically, AEM is an amazing mashup of technologies .. JCR, JSP,
Java, JavaScript .. it does some cool stuff.
However personally, I don't think it's a great tool for managing
document content. Honestly, I don't know that it provides many features
beyond using the file system and standard Windows network .. and it will
complicate a lot of things.
If you're using unstructured FM, it's just gong to store the files as a
binary blobs. If you are using XML, I can see that you could possibly
set things up so some of the metadata or content is extracted and
processed by the underlying system. Since this is really a web server,
it's probably best for someone publishing their content through the
system and storing the source in the system, so that the two are
dynamically linked. That would take a lot of development, but that's the
way I see it best utilized.
